Ajax Cape Town desperate for three points against Orlando Pirates

"We need to show character in our game," says Ajax Cape Town defender, Tercious Malepe

Ajax Cape Town will be looking to collect much needed three points when they go head-to-head with Orlando Pirates on Wednesday, 31 January.

Former Buccaneers defender, Tercious Malepe, said the Urban Warriors will be looking forward to collecting three point considering their situation. In this case, 'the situation' could mean Ajax Cape Town struggling to win games and still remaining firmly in the relegation zone.

Ajax managed to boast a formidable win against struggling Platinum Stars when they beat them 3-1, that being their first win in Muhsin Ertugral's five games in charge. Three games have ended in defeat for the Urban Warriors while their recent game against Free State Stars ended in a goalless feat.

The Buccaneers will be facing up to their former boss, Ertugral and this time the Soweto giants are looking to be one of the teams in tip top form, climbing third on the log having collected 10 points in their four outings - respectively.

Pirates have been rather dominant in their recent fixtures against the Cape Town outfit winning four matches out of the last five with the other ending in a draw. The hosts last basked in glory in this fixture way back in 2011 and favour hasn't been on their side since then.

Ajax will need to show character when they face up to the football giants which is what Malepe emulated on.

"We need to show character because they're (Pirates) will also be looking for three points to be in the running for the league.

"It's an important game and we are looking forward to collecting those points.

"It won't be an easy game and we won't allow them to do over on us because we are desperate for those points.

"It's a matter of who has it more," Malepe said.

Ajax Cape Town will host Orlando Pirates at Cape Town on Wednesday, 31 January. Kickoff is set for 19:30. The much anticipated match will also broadcast live on SuperSport 4.
