All things tech & gaming knowledge with Grant Hinds

Grant Hinds is the to go to guy with everything tech and gaming.

Most of us are only clued up on the gadgets we are currently using to get through on a daily basis. But what do you call a guy that eats, breathes and lives all things gaming and technology. Well we call him a tech geek. I sat down with Grant Hinds, an occasional presenter on The Tech Report and Expresso: SABC 3.

Here's what he to say about his all-rounder profession:

LM: Do you prefer console or PC games? Why?
GH: Both. They are really good for different things. Console games like FIFA which is a huge trend, Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto are really great games when you are relaxing and getting your game face on; if you can afford them.

LM: What type of games do you prefer?
GH: Games like Dodo, FIFA, Indie games and so forth. But that also depends on my mood on that particular day.

FIFA14
Indie games

LM: Do you LAN physically or with online friends?
GH: Yes. Normally as a social skill as the internet is very bad and addictive. But also once or twice a year as a special occasion.

LM: Does your significant other partake in your gaming or minds you playing?
GH: Yes she does partake.  She is a huge gamer, sometimes I think more than me (laughs). So that makes it a whole lot easier as you have someone that understands.

LM: Do you think gaming is somewhat consuming your life?
GH: No, it doesn't really. Its a part of my job. Sometimes its not relaxing and a well-deserved break is needed but it never ever consumes my life.

LM: What are your thoughts on physical and digital games?
GH: With the PS4 and Xbox One on the horizon and the law that games on said machines must be installed to the internal HDDs of the two consoles. Many are suggesting that this could see the end of physical games and a future of digital only games making an appearance. And with with digital, your games are accessible immediately at your disposal; no time wasted.
LM: Do you think digitally downloaded games promote piracy?
Steam (Valve Corporation)
GH: No. Steam [(software) developed by Valve Corportation]has swung piracy away. Its not much of an issue anymore.

LM: What do you think of the lawsuit that was filed against UBISOFT for releasing incomplete games?
GH: I don't exactly know the story in detail; but it is unacceptable. Every game that is produced and released should be complete.

LM: What are the gaming trends at the moment?
GH: Dota, Dodo 2 and Hearthstone

LM: Famous advice for aspiring gamers and techno out there?
GH: It is an exciting time ahead. The more tech-conscious society is, the better. Keep on keeping on.

Well you have read all things tech and gaming from the pro himself. After this interview I sure learnt a few things or two which I might to the test one day ;)
