Dene Botha: The man behind Pride Factor

A man that is making moves, paving the way for the youth

Ladies and gentlemen we give to you, Dene Botha. He is the founder and managing director of Pride Factor. Pride Factor is a movement that is aimed at teenagers, school-leavers and young adults. Dene is a well-accomplished entrepreneur, professional public speaker and avid surfer. He is the epitome of what young men strive to be, but he also proves that anything is possible when you put your mind and heart to it, and have the eagerness for the hard work that lies ahead.

We as The L.A Dosage team have been inspired by this gentleman and have been following his story for some time, and what do we do with such? We interview them. Here is what he had to say when we managed to get him off his busy schedule and answer some questions we had for him:

The L.A Dosage: If you weren’t doing this interview, now where would you be?

Dene Botha: Well I SHOULD be sitting on a boat somewhere in the Mentawis waxing up my board and getting ready for another surf session... however, more realistically I WOULD be sitting at my desk going over our new budget... So thanks for the distraction.

The L.A Dosage: A phrase you use too often?

Dene Botha: "No worries". (And, "I'll do that interview today Lee-Anne." ;) Hahaha)

(He cracks jokes once in a while with the editor)

The L.A Dosage: You wish people would take more notice of?

Dene Botha: The positivity in life. People seem to dwell on the negative... If it's that bad, take action and do something about it. I feel people moan a lot. We live in the greatest time ever; it's the the information age! The world is changing every day and it's all so exciting as there are opportunities presenting themselves everywhere.

The L.A Dosage: What is a common misconception of you?

Dene Botha: Shew, good question. Probably that I know how to dance... This is not the case.

(Ohh. . . the humour that was in this interview)

The L.A Dosage: Most surprising thing that’s ever happened to you?

Dene Botha: So many things comes to mind. Winning that reality TV show ("The Axe Sweet Life") a few years back was quite a shock to the system, otherwise as Steve Jobs said, “You can only connect the dots when you look back on your life.” - A couple of years ago I had no idea that I'd be in the position I'm in right now... It's all been pretty surprising to be honest, but that's life. Exciting stuff I tell you.

The L.A Dosage: You not a politician but. . .?

Dene Botha: It's OBVIOUS that our beautiful country needs better leadership. Much better! Hence the concept behind the Pride Factor movement. *Clears throat - #Promotion ;)

The L.A Dosage: You are good at. . . ?

Dene Botha: Being myself.

The L.A Dosage: But very bad at. . .?

Dene Botha: Remembering names - It's extremely embarrassing.

(Trust us, you are not the only one)

The L.A Dosage: Ideal night out?

Dene Botha: It's the simple things, like driving up the West Coast and finding a little camp site near the beach somewhere with my gorgeous little lady Lauren and our pug, Stewie, a bottle of red wine (or two), some firewood, braai meat, good music, and “30 Seconds” board game – Ahhhh heaven.

The L.A Dosage: In moments of weakness you. . . .?

Dene Botha: Retreat. Go surfing or climb a mountain. Try find some solitude and inspiration.

The L.A Dosage: We know you as a diverse media personality but in truer you’d be?

Dene Botha: Hmmm. . . another great question. At the moment I'm focusing my energy and efforts on the kids... I want to inspire them to find their passion, and ultimately turn it into their career. As we always say, "The youth of today are the most valuable resource we've got." and I feel that it's up to us to encourage them to live their lives to the fullest... It's all about inspiring young minds

The L.A Dosage: The best age to be is?

Dene Botha: Whatever age you are right now... We live in the 'now', so get on with it! All things aside, any age between being born and eventually falling off this mortal-coil is pretty awesome.

The L.A Dosage: In a nutshell your philosophy?

Dene Botha: “Nothing in life should be so serious that it's no longer enjoyable.”
This sure was a fun-filled interview, thanks to Dene for being a good sport. We at The L.A Dosage HQ wish him and his brand Pride Factor all the best with their future endeavours, and to keep on impacting more youth, especially in our country that has so much more potential.
